"There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man”

Serving People, Saving Horses
The mission of Out Side In is to serve people and save horses.
We will improve the lives of people suffering from emotional and/or mental health issues by providing effective, alternative, outpatient treatment to those in need.
We will accomplish this goal by using horses to improve the outcome of traditional, evidence based psychotherapy practices.

As a thoroughbred aftercare program, we will use retired thoroughbred race horses to not only improve the effectiveness of intervention and help change peoples lives, but to also help give retired race horses a new life and a new career after the track.
Services
Psychotherapy
At Out Side In, our focus is on providing effective mental health treatment for those in need. The licensed therapists at OSI are skilled and experienced in treating a wide range of emotional and mental health issues using interventions from resesarch based models including CBT, TF-CBT, EMDR, ACT, DBT and others. Using horses as a part of a comprehensive treatment plan has been shown to significantly improve the outcomes of traditional therapy.
Veterans Programs
Out Side In provides service for Veteran's suffering from PTSD, transition stress and other emotional and mental health issues.
Instead of sitting in an office and talking, reconnecting with nature and establishing a relationship with a horse can often bypass defenses and allow one to be more open to addressing issues in their life.
Thoroughbred Aftercare
By using retired Thoroughbred race horses in our therapy programs, Out Side In not only serves people but also saves horses.  Out Side In is proud to be one of 74 organizations nationwide to be accredited with the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance. Out Side In cares for between 10 and 12 Thoroughbreds at any given time and provides rehabilitation, retraining and re-homing to help these horses find a new purpose in life.
