Out Side In is a 501(c)(3) organization which depends on public support to provide life saving services for people and horses. At Out Side In, our goal is to provide service to anyone, regardless of their ability to pay and to remove all barriers to treatment. Although Equine Assisted Psychotherapy is much more effective than traditional psychotherapy, it is also much more costly to provide. This is one reason there are very few organizations that provide Equine Assisted Psychotherapy with licensed mental health professionals. Below are some ways that you can help, however, donations of any amount are always greatly appreciated and fully tax deductible! You can donate through the paypal button below, send a check, or call us and we can take a donation over the phone with a credit card!
In addition to cash donations please consider other ways to help such as by making a Facebook fundraiser for your birthday or other event (Out Side In, Inc. on FB), shopping through Amazon Smile and designating Out Side In as your charity of choice, or even considering memorial gifts in the name of a loved ones!
Horse Care
At Out Side In, we care for between 20 and 24 horses at any given time. Many of these horses are retired race horses who have either been injured or retired due to age or non-performance. The cost of these caring for these horses is a large expense and we depend on the support of generous donors to help cover these expenses. A donation in any amount large or small is greatly appreciated. Following are a few ways you can help!

Child Sponsorship
Many of the children referred to Out Side In have experienced significant abuse, neglect, trauma, and loss. They often need specialized, individual trauma treatment and many come to us with limited insurance coverage.
At Out Side In, our licensed mental health professionals provide trauma-focused psychotherapy in a setting designed to help children feel safe, supported, and engaged. For many children, horses are incorporated into treatment, creating opportunities for connection, trust, emotional regulation, confidence, and experiences that can be difficult to access through conversation alone.
Providing this individualized, experiential treatment can cost more than traditional office-based therapy, and insurance does not always cover the full cost. We don't want the ability to pay to determine whether a child can receive the help they need.

Veterans
Your donation helps sponsor a Veteran experiencing PTSD through our Heroes for Horses program. Services are provided at no cost to Veterans, removing financial barriers to receiving care.
Heroes for Horses is an intensive outpatient program designed for Veterans experiencing significant symptoms of PTSD. Veterans work with a licensed mental health professional using established, evidence-based approaches, with retired racehorses incorporated into treatment to create opportunities for experience, connection, self-discovery, and growth.
For Veterans who may find traditional office-based therapy difficult or who have struggled to engage in treatment in the past, working alongside horses offers a different way to participate in the therapeutic process. Experiences with horses can provide opportunities to explore trust, relationships, boundaries, communication, emotional regulation, confidence, and responses to stress and uncertainty—all within the context of psychotherapy.
Our horses have a story of their own. After their racing careers end, they too are beginning a new chapter. Through Heroes for Horses, retired racehorses are given a meaningful second career while Veterans are given another way to engage in the work of healing and moving forward.
Your gift helps provide a Veteran with access to treatment while giving a retired racehorse a new purpose and a second chance.
$60 pays for one hour of group treatment. $230 pays for a weekly 2-hour support group for up to 4 Veterans $2000 pays for a 16 weeks of intensive individual treatment.

Do you have a Veteran in your life you would like to honor?
With a $100 donation, you can dedicate a horseshoe in their name. Your Veteran’s name will be engraved on a brass plate and placed on our Horseshoe Flag, proudly displayed in our therapy offices as a lasting tribute to those who have served.
